Rag & Bone

Spring 2008

Home Base: New York

An Englishman in New York: Company founders Marcus Wainwright and David Neville are British expats. They started rag & bone in 2001.

What’s in a Name: "rag and bone" men were street peddlers who roamed the streets of England calling out "rag and bone" as they picked up scrap metal and old furniture to resell.

Defining style: Timelessness combined with youthful flair. Quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Old School: rag & bone manufactures its products at U.S. factories that continue to sew clothes in the same way they have for the past 50 years, staying true to the authenticity and quality of original American workwear.

Spring '08: Espionage glamour. Think Sean Connery-era James Bond and the short, sharp and sophisticated fashion of the late '60s and early '70s.

Colour Palette: Navy, beige and black.

Fabrics: Lightweight cashmere, denim, wools, cottons and nylons (with some nano-coated that utilize waterproof technology).

Highlights: Tailored jackets and vests, including their bestselling St. James blazer, made of lightweight cotton with nano-coating. Flat-front pants in blue denim. Navy windbreakers and anoraks.
