Home Base: London
The Man: Matthew Williamson graduated London's renowned Central St. Martins School in 1994 and started his namesake clothing collection with its signature colourful prints. In 2005, he was appointed Creative Director of Emilio Pucci (he splits his time between London and the Pucci headquarters in Florence).
The Legacy: Emilio Pucci, the "Prince of Prints," made fashion history in 1947 when he designed a revolutionary, streamlined ski suit complete with tapered trousers. He then opened a boutique on the island of Capri dedicated to colourful resort clothing in simple shapes.
Perfect Fit: Both Pucci and Williamson share an affinity for bright colour and strong print.
The Look: Williamson takes Pucci's classic psychedelic prints and adds an angular, graphic spin.
Fall 2008: Softer colours; luxury fabrics; coats with sculptured sleeves; skirts and dresses with curved, egg-shaped forms.
The Designer Says: "I think the Matthew girl would wear flat sandals and travel to India, whilst the Pucci woman would wear high heels and go to St. Tropez."
